while flying out west I saw circles on the ground with rectangles near them..no one seems to know what they are. some had lines going thru like cutting a piece of pie.. Anyone know?

I am guessing that those are where the center pivots of irrigators spin. The big irrigation sprayers?
Or maybe you saw the settling ponds for wastewater treatment plants? Where all the city poopy goes?
