I live in Southeastern PA and just moved into this house last month. All of a sudden these ugly brown flat beetles with a jagged shell showed up a day ago. What are they and how do I get rid of them?

The first answerer was correct. I must have the brown stink bug. I still need to know how to get rid of them!

It is possible that they are cockroaches and if so, the first thing you do is to clean the house and get rid of all garbage because they are attracted to dirty surfaces, garbage, etc. What I do in ALL cases is get a sprayer and spray all around the house at least twice a year with the strongest insect spray I can find...

Chinese beetles. You can't get rid of them they are taking the food resources away from our ladybugs and they are dieing off.

If they have pinchers on their butts they are probably Earwigs. I don't know how to get rid of them I imagine the same way you do roaches.

It sounds like cockroaches. get an exterminator once a year, they will spray your whole house and the perimeter of you house as well.
