Do you answer the door ( might be Publishers Clearing house or something else important) or do you get dressed and hopefully not miss them.

Peek to see who it is and if you know the person, tell them to hold on a minute and get dressed to answer the door. If you do not know who it is, don't bother. Probably a salesperson or someone like that.

Ignore it. They would have called first if it was important. I think it's rude to just come over to someone's house. Usually, though, it ends up being a door to door salesperson. No free peep shows for them!

I would answer the door. I've never entered the Publishers Clearinghouse thing so it must be someone I know.

If I'm not expecting anyone, I wouldn't open the door. Anyone I'd want to see would: a) know my phone number and b) know that I absolutely hate "surprises."

why not just ask "who is it?" before you open the door? then all your problems are solved. you'll find out if you need to put a robe on or some pants!
