I don't think it is more evil as it is more ill-at-ease among people, greed and fear mongering in our society has created most of what we are experiencing today, we look to save every other society but our own, put an animal in a corner and it will attack you, what we do to the poor and the down and out in this country is why we we have so much violence, the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, we send billions out of our country instead of creating jobs and a better life for our own, I see it as more survival than evil.

Today's society is not necessary evil but it is worse, today's generation is dying off quickly in results of violence, drugs and gangs. I'm not saying that the past was all good because we did have it bad with segregation laws, but now that the law has gotten (somewhat) better, but the communities have gotten a lot worse

I was going to say cruelty to children, but people used to think children were their property and do terrible things to them, including selling into slavery and maiming them. So I guess things are a little better.
Warfare has become worse. Now we make war on civilians. It used to be that when soldiers fought in a war, they had look their enemies in the eye. Now they don't even see them, just bomb them from afar. It makes it easier to kill greater numbers of people if you don't see the results of your actions.
It is much easier for evil people to manipulate others for their own ends now that we have instant mass communications.

If you mean satanists openly flaunting their religious choice on the bus, people being rude for no reason at all, people looking out for their own best interests and completely ignoring everyone else, the pope being made to apologize for referring to what someone else said 600 years ago, teenage girls wearing highly sexual clothing (micro mini-skirts and low-cut tops), people becoming offended if you say anything about how they're behaving, ten year olds mouthing off to their parents and the parents doing nothing in response for fear the police will throw them in jail, kids going into schools with guns and murdering students for no reason at all, kids cutting themselves for no reason, people being offended by Christianity which is all about loving your neighbour as yourself, kids not being allowed to have a school Christmas concert at Christmas time, homosexuality being promoted in schools with public tax money, the THEORY of evolution being taught in schools as proven fact while creationism is not discussed at all......

No - we've progressed to more democratic societies, steering away from the 'emperor is divine' stuff from the past. With the increase in communication (internet, etc.) we now are much more aware of things going on and it may seem like it's worse but it's not -- buddhism is on the rise in the U.S., cognitive behavior therapy and twelve-step programs are available to people, we've progressed in our understanding of personality and psychology, etc.

I can only say, go into any chat room, and watch the adults hating each other. Also, the terrorism in the country, of course it's more evil then in the past. ~~

Naw, it's less evil actually, but as there are more and more people and better and better communications, the evil that exists is magnified. Meanwhile we have gotten less willing to accept evil which makes it more repugnant than ever.
Or not...

No, just a lot more jerks. It's nice "we" stopped burning people alive for their beliefs or lack thereof. That's some progress, at least.
