that balll is to old and he lane conditions put out know will not allow that bal to hook...its time for a new ball...ask your pro shop if they have used one usually you can get those cheap...the only thing i can suggest is to throw the ball as slow as you can...to give it a chance to hook..

It has nothing to do with the ball or the 'new' lane conditions. It's all in your release. And I have to agree with the previous poster...if you've bowled a 300, I don't think you'd be coming to us for help.

But anyway, rotation, or hook, is all in release of the ball from your hand. More specifically, your fingers, NOT your wrist. All rotation on a bowling ball comes directly from your two middle fingers. When they retract from the bowling ball, they should put lift on the ball, which in turn becomes rotation on the ball.

It takes practice. I still have an old Purple Beast that is well past ten years old. It is one of my favorite power hooking balls of all the bowling balls I've ever owned. Work on your release. It's all in your fingertips.

To tell you the truth, I would retire that bowling ball because it has special significance to you (I retired 10 different bowling balls after scoring 300 10 times, and one after bowling an 838 series). Considering how the lane conditions are now, I would purchase a bowling ball that is suited to the conditions you currently bowl on. The proshop probably could not do anything to resurface the ball to make it perform like it did 10 years ago. Maybe you will bowl another honor score with the new bowling ball. Good luck!

You're full of it. If you ever bowled a 300 game, you know more about what to do than the rest of us. Quit joshing around.

It's all in the wrist and how much spin you put on it.
