Several combinations. I will exclude 9 crayons of half and half or purple.

red - 8 blue
red - 7 blue
red - 6 blue
red - 5 blue
red - 4 blue
red - 3 blue
red - 2 blue
red - 1 blue

combinations possible. The zero and 9 are theoretical constructs only. You said that you "have" and this implies that you must possess at least one red and one blue crayon.

If your problem stated that you "have 9 crayons" and each must be red or blue, then the 0 and 9 combinations would be allowed and 10 combinations would be possible.
