Their are two type of foreign investment:
1. Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) - Are cash invested in a certain country to purchase hard assets such as real estate, machinery, or industrial equipment. These are long-term investments.
2. Hot money - These are portfolio investments which flow to the capital markets, which include the money market, debt capital markets, and/or equities market. These are relatively short-term depending on the type of investor.
