No, it is not hydrophilic. Oil is a hydrocarbon and will not easily mix with water. It is considered hydrophobic.

Oil is hydrophobic. Due to its density, it wants to float on water rather than mix with it. A hydrophilic substance would want to mix with water.

Most definitely hydrophobic. It's not really a very acurate term though, really. It's not so much that the oil is 'phobic' of water, but rather that the water just isn't attracted to the oil, and will therefore exclude it from its hydrogen bond interactions. It's this exclusionary force that drives oil beads together when mixed in water.

hydrophobic means not attracted to water
hydrophillic means attracted to water
oil is hydro phobic to water
u can test it put a bit of oil on a surface and just rub it in a bit(like on a leaf ,something u can throw away)
if u put water on it water stands as a round drop.while normally it would lie flat like a coat button
we use soap to wash dirty oily dishes
coz oil is water phobic but soap is attracted to both so it comes out
also this property is determined by the surface tension of different material.

The correct answer would be hydrophilic becuase hydrophobic would mean that a human is afraid of water. (Phobias are human fears. Such as arachnophobia.) For example: John was hydrophobic. That means that a person was afraid of water. But when you say that the oil was hydrophilic, it means that it doesn't "like water" or it doesn't mix well.

its hydrophobic molecules ..
other examles : alkanes, oils, fats, and greasy substances in general ...
Hydrophobic materials are used for oil removal from water, the management of oil spills, and chemical separation processes to remove non-polar from polar compounds.
