There is the Roman Catholic Church led by the Pope in Rome, and the Eastern Rite led by a head figure in Constantinople..

Yes. There is traditional Roman Catholicism, Charismatic Catholics, and a new branch that includes (and reaches out to) gays and lesbians. I say a program on PBS on the later, a nun was very involved and believed she would be excommunicated for serving this "discriminated against and left-out" minority.
