cells reproduse "asexualy"
the two cells are geneticly identical,
sexual reproduction creates viable but totaly individual offspring
they are therefore diffrent, and more likely to servive through evolution...
its is more succsesful at serviveing adverse conditions
(edible bannanas are all geneticly identical, and are all serseperble to the same illnesses)
hav a look at...

Organisms that reproduce asexually have one big disadvantage: The fact that they can't recombine their genes makes their evolution much slower. Sex was something life forms evolved in order to evolve faster (yes, that makes sense).
However, what might well be more efficient would be if we had one gender, but had to have sex with someone else to reproduce. That way you'd get the benefit of sex, plus you wouldn't have the other problems associated with having males and females.

Two sexes create more diverse offspring. This helps species adapt quickly, and allows for desirable traits to be combined to produce the most sucessful offspring. This has created species sucessful in raising offspring, allowing for tasks to be divided and creating better protection for the next generation.
Asexual reproduction is sucessful as well, but in order to have complex, multicellular organisms, you need the diversity created by sexual reproduction.
The fact that sexual reproduction has created so many sucessful species is proof that it is worthwhile. Steps that lessen effiency without adding advantages are not passed along.

We are muliticellular. We are so big and one cell is not efficient for it to sustain life. That's why our body is built such that differet cells have different roles to play in sustaining life and procreating.

What a boring way to go... self gratification from birth to death... that would mean no actual physical contact was ever needed all your life... and God gave us the ability to have fun as well, you know! I mean... he even had a sense of humour when he designed a man!

That's the way that God made it. If it was up to evolution then we would only have one sex. That would have been really boring. Can you imagine not having orgasms? It just wouldn't be the same if it was just yourself and no sexual pleasure.

With two parents the sibling can have one parent for protection and one for hunting/food gathering.
Its about survival.
