is there anything in NY law about this? no papers were signed jsut a verbal agreement.

The definition of an "Employee/Employe"- A person who works for another in return for financial or other compensation.

He/she never worked, He/she was never compensated, He/she is not an employee/employe.

Buffalo.NY< If he gave you keys to open he can sue for thief of services,1 days pay.for business he lost. if you just did not start,then no because you were not an employee.

no you dont get sued for that type of thing unless the company put out money in advance for different things like moving cost etc. then be prepared to pay resitution or be sued
