The "Once and Future King" of Britain is said to be sleeping, waiting to return when his country needs him.

Considering the fact that this country has descended in to a complete shitehole, overrun with crime, rampant immigration, hardly any ood jobs, Muslim fanatics trying to blow us up, incompetent government, high taxes and basically the ordinary British bloke in the street getting a raw deal (unlike al the scroungin asylum seekers who get free housing and benefits) don't you think its time he returned to kick some a*se?? This country needs him now if it ever did!!!

Much like Fionn mac Cumhaill, Arthur will return at the hour of greatest need. Kind of makes you wonder just how bad things are going to get, if he hasn't shown up yet.

I've seen one story where it's suggested that he and the knights reappeared in WWII, and rather quietly filled the roles of pilots in the Battle of Britain. ::shrugs:: Possible.

Britain does need a new leader for sure - if not 'Arthur' then someone more physical rather than metaphysical.

Where is this person? Is he or she in Britain now, or waiting in one of Britain's former colonies like Australia, New Zealand or Canada?

Britain needs an injection of "Britishness". The people need to be told that it is alright to stand up for their country, to speak out with intelligence and convicton that Britain is something worth fighting for.

Britain has gone through dark times before - this is another one of those times. But we never give up. Maybe we don't need 'Arthur', all we need is the people to begin to stand up and make a difference.

He's already back! This bearded guy with tatty clothes outside Circle K came up to me at about three in the morning once and insisted he was in fact King Arthur. Pausing only to pick up the bottle of Gorbatschow he clumsily dropped, he said he was back to save the world and that Tupac Shakur was also making his return in order to join him on his noble quest. He then collapsed, threw up and fell asleep. I guess his big return tired him out a little to start with. But I'm expecting big things now.

Well, to use the Arthur story (the only method we have to go on, probably never. You see, when magic left the world, Merlin left also. People stopped believing and look what has happened to Merlin's Oak even. The country needs a real hero, for sure, but I don't think it will be Arthur.

I don't think that England was that different when Arthur was around and his efforts to create a 'perfect' kingdom went sour through others' greed and selfishness. He is supposed to be sleeping (with the knights) under the Glastonbury Tor and will only return when we are absolutely on our last legs and desperate and compared with many in the world, we aren't there yet!

As long as he brings Sir Lancelot back with him that's okay..I'll just love men in shining armour and riding on a white horse.

I think he would be returning to a country that is more savage now than when he allegedly lived here.

It would be wonderful if Merlin could wave his magic wand and everything would be alright. Perhaps he could wave his magic wand and bring all the troops home from abroad. No one else seems interested in doing so.

He hasn't returned because these tossers don't threaten us enough. We can change things. We don't need Arthur. We've just got to get our balls back rather than a King that's been dead for over a millenium.
