First get a toilet brush, then Lysol toilet bowl cleaner-it grips, swish it around in a clean flushed bowl, then put a non-chlorine solid cleaner in the water supply tank! you will never have to clean your bowl again...just a light touch up from time to time! Make life easy....brush, then flush!! :-)

Use Efferdent. Drop 3 to 4 tablets in and let them sit in the bowl for about 1/2 hour to an 1. Than you can brush and clean it with any other nice smelling cleaner afterwards.

Efferdent works on dentures, it also works in the toilet.

If you want access to more surface area than normal, use a bucket of water to manually flush the toilet. The bowl will not refill. You will be able to reach more area of the surface. As far as chemicals go, all the others give good advice. Just beware of mixing chemicals. Don't mix them. There is a risk of accidentally making mustard gas or some similar poison. There are some cases reported of people dieing due to such accidents.

Denture cleaning tablets do a nice job of dissolving the mineral deposits our hard water leaves. I have also heard some people use cola - the phosphoric acid cleans the same way. Diet cola is better - doesn't encourage mold growth under the rim.

Come to think of it, I should go do that right now...

;-)

In Ontario Canada we have a product called a pumice stone for toilets that gets off the hard water build up - it is unbelievable how well it works - other wise I use Vim with bleach! If you are in Canada it is sold by Home Hardware.
