I have been getting these IM messages from real friends "one" of which I do not believe is tryin to hack my computer. They send a link , the first one was www.geocitiejunebug485.com :) someone told me that was a hacker. another one came from a friend and it said .. www.checkoutmynewpics.com.. something like that. but that one had ;) on both ends....... what is the deal???

If you are using windows XP, and got a licensed copy of it, then you can download "windows defender" from microsoft's web site. It works as a firewall which prevents any kind of spying, hacking on your computer. Also you should have an antivirus program on your computer and keep it updated using the autoupdate feature in it. Same goes with windows, you should turn the autoupdate option to ON, by going in control panel > Security center.

Block them. It's not worth the time or trouble to figure out who it is. & as a general rule don't talk to strangers on IM because that is a good way to allow someone to crack into your pc if your not fully protected. Security focus has an article that explains how this is done.

It is just SPAM. Block them and don't worry about it.
