Get rid of all the unhealthy snack food in your house and replace it with healthy snacks. Don't go to fast food places unless you're willing to just have a salad and water or diet beverage.

This is one of those questions that the answer will be slightly different for everyone. I think the best suggestion I can give you is to improve your diet bit by bit, and you will not crave a lot of the junk food. I have had to rework my diet and exercise over the past couple of years, just for health reasons. I wanted to be in better shape and healthier, so I just had to decide to do it. I have not given up anything completely, I think that more people fail as soon as they tell themselves...oh I can never have cake, ice cream, cookies, chips, candy or whatever your particular "crave" food item is. What I have learned to do for myself is to eat sensibly during the week and make sure that I really stay away from my trigger carbs, such as mashed potatoes and chips and white bread. On the weekends, I will have a treat whether it is one meal with a mashed potato or some chips or an icecream. I don't go crazy, but I don't feel as if I have to eat everything in sight either, because I know I can have some, and walk away and go back to my good health eating the next day. I have added in more exercise and more water. I tend to have a big insulated glass of water or soda water with ice and a bit of juice or lemon and lime slices or Crystal Light sitting near me at all times. I do this at work and at home, and it has helped me take of a few more pounds and keep them off. My blood pressure and cholesteral are much better, and my skin is in the best shape it has been in for at least ten years. I have certain cookies and candy that I will always enjoy, and I will spend the bit of extra money to buy the single serving packs at the grocery checkout, just so I can have the item in the house, without having enough servings for ten people. If you go into the e-diets, Oprah.com, and marthastewart.com there are great diet plans and meals on there that may help. It is an ongoing learning process, and lifestyle. Eliminate one junk item at a time, try giving it up for one week and you will find that your cravings for it will subside or stop. Don't drink a lot of soda, and "diet" soda is just as bad, as the additives are terrible and you can get just as addicted to that as the regular, and end up drinking more. Just try one hour at a time and then one day, and soon a week or even two will have gone by and you will be shocked and pleased that you didn't have item x at all during that time. Good luck to you, you can do it and will feel so great, you will not go back to the junk....Have a good night!

As the Boy Scouts say: Be prepared. You must take some time to figure out what's healthy for you and what isn't (and that doesn't take Rocket Science to figure out by doing a little research). Then, sadly enough, you have to go to the grocery store and buy/prepare your own food. Freeze it if you are busy. When you are out with friends, you need to make healthier choices at the restaurants you go to. There are healthier choices in restaurants these days--even fast food restaurants. But it so darned tempting when you are with your friends and watching them wolf down greasy french fries. You want them so bad!!! So, the real answer is learning what food is good for you and what isn't; will power; the determination to change your eating lifestyle; and making changes to support your new eating plan. Try to stay away from places that have food impossible for you to resist and keep that kind of food out of your house. Try not to get too hungry. Try not to eat impulsively. Try to carry snacks with you. You know what? I think this will power thing would be easier if we had see-through stomachs and could see what this junk food does to our system! But we don't so you just have to be a warrier against the powers of junk food. Good luck!!!

Clean out your cupboards of all the foods considered "junk". Only go to restaurants that don't have the "junk" foods you crave. Aim for restaurants that have a variety of foods you've never tried - create new favorites and new cravings. Before ordering, drink a glass of water so you aren't starving. Take your time looking over the menu to see what they have instead of falling back to your old junk food cravings. Then remember, going cold turkey is not always easy nor necessary. If you limit your intake of "junk" food, you can "allow" yourself a treat now and again. If you crave junk food, it will always be on your mind. Make healthy choices with an OCCASSIONAL "junk" food choice.

Keep a food journal for a week.
Then go back and figure out how many calories of white bread you ate, how many grams of fat were in all those fast food meals, how many pounds you gained, and so on and so forth.
Then, get a diet from your doctor or a registered dietitian.
May the Creator keep and help you.

Hmm... first stop buying it. Then buy stuff that isn't junk. Then all you have are those "un-junkish" things which leaves you no choice but to eat those things. =)

Do not have any junk food around. Replace it with healthy low fat food you enjoy. Yougurt, fruit, bf jerky, veggies, lots of water, yogurt covered raisins, weight watchers snacks, sugar free gum is the best....

Put some vanilla onto a piece of cardboard. Any time you are feeling like eating sweets, just smell the vanilla. It works for me.

If you don't own it, you can't eat it. Never buy it, never keep it in the car or your house....and keep some goodstuff at hand all the time....also, if you're out exercising or doing things (no TV or computers, etc) you'll have a tougher time snacking.
