The teacher said that she could ask at home, but it has been so long since I have done math like this, that I am not sure. I dont need comments that say that you arent going to give homework answers!!!!!

a good 3rd grade problem solving technique is guess and check
for example make the width 20 then then the lengh is 26

All that needs to be true is that the length and width must add up to 43 (half the perimeter). So 20 and 23; 18 and 25, for example

draw a rectangle to fiqure it out.label the perimeter=86,the longer side as length, as well as the side of the rectangle as width.put w+l=86 and 2(w) 2(l)=86. divide the width for the answer and the difference for length.

a rectangle? It could be anything!
For example it will have 2 sides of equal length and another two sides of equal length. So you could have one side at 10, the opp side will also have to be 10. This would leave the other 2 sides to 33 each.
You can't answer this question with a definate number because any number is possible

By knowing the ratio properties of the rectangle;
*Length is two times its width... a sort of like that. and then 2 L + 2 W = 86(rectangular formula).
*Where if the ratio of the rectangle is (2L is equal to W...???just for illustration) and the rest is algebraic basic solution... by substituting the ratio, 2L + [(2L)(2L)] = 86.
*And by having L,... substitute L in the equation number 1(rectangular formula), and you'll get the W!
*Thereby you'll have the structural figures of the rectangle.

The answer can't be "anything" but it can be many things. Start with two equal sides, say 30 and 30. The remaining two sides must be equal to 86-30-30=26, so each of the other two sides are 13 each (half of 26)

Let x and y be the adjacent sides. Then
perimeter P = 2x + 2y = 86
So x + y = 43
Then x can take any value greater than 0 and less than 43,
and y = 43 - x. There are infinitely many values for
x and y if x and y are real.

To calculate length, P, you need width, W, and length, L.
P = 2W + 2H
In this case, 86 = 2W + 2L, or
43 = W + L
That is, the lenght and width must sum to 43. Any combination that sums to 43 works.

Like everyone else is saying, there are many possible solutions. Here is one of them: Side One = 23, Side Two = 23, Side Three = 20, Side Four = 20. (23, 23, 20, 20)
