I'm locked out of my apartment and I can't get a hold of my landlord. Its a 4-plex and I'm on the second story...My lock is your average lock and I've tried the credit card method. My cats are hunger and I want to get into some decent clothes. (I'm at a friends house if your wondering).

Just keep calling your apartment manager. Don't they have a answering service? Good Luck!

Look closly at you door knob and see if you can find a small hole somewhere on the handle. It's the emergency unlock device.

Push button locks: The doorknob on the outside of the door has a small hole in it. Find a thick nail or something similar, and push it straight in the hole. You will hear a click, which is the door being unlocked.

Turn button locks: The doorknob on the outside of the door has a small hole in it. In this case you will need to find a small flathead screwdriver which will fit through the hole. Insert the screwdriver straight in, and rotate gently until you feel it slip into position with the notch. Turn the screwdriver, using pressure to make sure you turn the inside bolt as well. You will hear a click, which is the door being unlocked. If turning the screwdriver doesn't seem to work one way, try it the other direction.

Dayum, don't that just piss you off? How about borrowing a ladder from a neighbor and going through the window. Have you tried a stiff knife by moving the lock and then stick the credit card in there? I have done that before or a screw driver. Good Luck,

You will have to call a locksmith to come and let you in. I had to do that once many years ago, I think it was about $50. They charge extra to come out on weekends on an emergency basis.

Maybe you can leave a spare key with your friend after this?

hey this an old trick i used many years ago to get into suspects rooms in hotel we worked at, i see you tried the old credit card, most of them wont do it cause they aren't stiff enough to get past the secondary lock...smiles...if u can get a butter knife or a screwdriver, two will do, use the first one to jimmy the lock back and then use the other to pry deeper to push the secondary lock back, usually works...let me know how u make out...if not get a still piece of metal something that wont bend...

They demonstrated on Mythbusters that both a 12 guage shotgun and a rifle work so you might try one of those. Don't try a 9mm or even a 357 because they won't do the job.

Call a lock smith. or if you have sliding windows (the old kind) you can push the window up and slide it back. If all else fails, a rock through the window should do the trick.
