Prior buying a projector u should ask yourself several questions:
a) Do u really just want to use it for PowerPoint?
b) Are you using it in a professional environment (e.g. presentation to customers)?
c) What resolution and what lumen (brightness) do u need?
d) Do u want to watch TV/HDTV?
e) Is it for mobile use?

As a general advise take a look at the lifetime for the lamp/bulb and make sure that u can buy them in a "shop" near by. I had a case that the bulb has to be ordered out of Japan and it took more than 5 months to get it replaced.

The expensive part is the bulb.

I don't know if this has any value to you, but they are really magnifying glasses with focus lens.

In my old high school years ago, they used a half-transparent LCD projector plate separately so they can use the existing magnifying projectors with computers, that seems a rather low-cost solution, although it is a monochromatic solution. And machines are now in colour.

Why are diamonds so expensive? My chemistry teacher said it was by agreement that artificial diamonds (they are carbon atoms in 3D both nature and artificial) should not be sold as novelty items so naturally occuring diamonds are so few and premium; same goes with projectors.

I'm not too experienced in projectors, but i know DLP Projectors are the best. They last longer, and they have clearer picture too.
