Even when the administration would not give generals the troops they needed to win the war in Iraq, Republican leaders did nothing. When the president refused to veto a single spending bill while the deficit spiraled upward, Republican leaders looked away. And when chaos was reigning in the streets of New Orleans and across the Gulf Coast in Katrina's horrific aftermath, Republican leaders remained mute.
Took a $155 billion surplus
and turned it into a record-setting $400 billion deficit.
Will the Republicans lose the election
in shame?

You're giving them too much credit, they can't think. They had no plan, except to kiss Bush's @$$ all along. The will face a huge defeat this November and subsequent election until we can bail out the country from the damage that Bush has caused.

Actually, your the kind of Republican who is an honest Republican - so how come your ilk have no influence within your own party? Then again, as a Democrat, I'm no better at answering the question, "What's WRONG with you guys?" in reference to, say, nominating John Kerry.
There are sensible people on both sides of the aisle - but not in Congress, it would seem. But if the Republicans lose in November, I'm sure they'll just blame it on Bill Clinton and have no shame about it.
Meanwhile, you and I should figure out how to get people who address ISSUES and not PR into office. Let's run for something.

Just one point; During a Newshour broadcast in Jan, 1998.
PRESIDENT CLINTON: We don't have a surplus. We can project a surplus, but we don't have one. And we've waited 30 years for a balanced budget. Between 1981 and 1992, we projected all kinds of things, and went out and spent the money on tax cuts and spending, both. We spent the money. And we quadrupled the debt, drove up interest rates, put our country in a terrible hold. All I'm saying is that any policy we adopt must not--it cannot run any risk of returning to the failed policies of the past.
KWAME HOLMAN: Nonetheless, the President this week proposed major new domestic spending to expand Medicare and child care, both to be included in his latest budget recommendation to Congress. And the President is expected to call for more new spending in three weeks, when he delivers his State of the Union Address.......
I could go on and on about why what you say here is nonsense but I don't wish to bore the readers any longer with this type of hyperbole.
As to the upcoming election; I don't know if we'll win or lose, and there is no shame in losing, but know this; I'm voting Republican all the way!!

When chaos reigned in the streets of New Orleans....Chaos has always reigned in New Orleans--parts of it. Ray Nagen was safe with his family and friends while hundreds of transit and school buses went underwater that could have been used to get people out. But he was re-elected. People should not have been given a choice to stay, but they were.
As for a surplus? If a government does nothing, like refusing to get Bin Laden the many, many times that it could have, then naturally it would have a surplus. Protecting the country costs money--money that will never have to be paid back.
And as far as I've heard, Republicans are doing much better at the moment for the upcoming election that many expected--much like the last Presidential election, when even many Republicans thought we were going to lose. Thank God we didn't!

Please go home to your cave. You don't belong on the streets. You are dangerous! Do you not understand the ammoralness from the DemocRATS? The sleeze bags have never done anything helpful to this country, the hard truth is that most of them are traitors. Have a nice day.

Republicans will not lose any more elections as long as electronic voting machines are in use. The unverifiability of those machines is unacceptable, untraceble, and every election they are used in is favorable to the Republican candidate.
If shame still existed, none of this could be happening.
