I already know that the movie, "Igby Goes Down" was inspired by the novel. Does anyone else know of any other inspired movies?

Field of Dreams...Terrance Mann is based on JD Salinger...in fact, I think JD Salinger was the name used in the book that Field of Dreams was based on.

Edit: I just reread your question, so here are some other inspired movies:
- Simon Birch was based on John Irving's a Prayer for Owen Meany
- Shawshank Redemption based on a book named something with Rita Hayworth in the title
- LA Confidential was based on a book (I forget the name) and the book was based loosely on some real events that took place in LA. They made a bunch of changes to it.
- South Pacific is based on James Michner's Tales of the South Pacific.
- Bridget Jones Diary is based on a collection of newspaper columns
- The Wizard of Oz is based on L. Frank Baums short stories about trips to Oz. (Like Hans Christian Anderson, he used to tell stories on the fly to little kids)

I'm assuming your not looking for movies are the books just made into movie form, because there are tons of these including the Harry Potter series, Ragtime, the Notebook, The Devil Wears Prada, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Da Vinci Code, etc.
