My garden, i'm told this is rare?

It's actually called a "Hummingbird Hawk Moth" and it usually resides in warmer climes; however - possibly due to global warming - it's becoming more frequently sighted in UK.

2006 has seen it as far north as Cumbria!

I live in Gloucestershire and have been seeing them for 2 years now , i saw one 2 days ago which is even more suprising as its the middle of September ,global warming is the probable cause for them coming north from Europe

I have had one of these in my garden...it was very large & I thought it was a bird at first...it has to gather speed like a helicopter before it can take off...truly awesome...take some pix like I did...thanks for evoking a pleasant memory....B
