He ll we even made movies about how evil it was.
And thousands of people still languish in a limbo, deprived of one of common law's oldest rights, habeas corpus, the right to know why you are imprisoned.
"If you, God forbid, are an innocent Afghan who gets sold down the river by some warlord rival, you can end up at Bagram and you have absolutely no way of clearing your name," said John Sifton of Human Rights Watch in New York. "You can't have a lawyer present evidence, or do anything organized to get yourself out of there."
The U.S. government has contended it can hold detainees until the "war on terror" ends — as it determines.
"I don't think we've gotten to the question of how long," said retired admiral John D. Hutson, former top lawyer for the U.S. Navy. "When we get up to 'forever,' I think it will be tested" in court, he said.
The Navy is planning long-term at Guantanamo. This fall it expects to open a new, $30-million maximum-security wing at its prison complex

The Bush administration has enforced many flagrantly UNenforceable laws since the Bush term commenced.
"Until the war on terror ends(?)"
What a laugh. There have been terrorist acts going on for decades. Unless God steps in, they will be going on for an even longer time, or "forever" to cite one of your quotes..
We must ask ourselves -- why this 30 million dollar facility? are we planning to imprison thousands more "innocents" all in the name of "terror" without the right to attorneys? without being charged?
Are we going to let this "evil" become so prevalent that it will soon be placed on a back burner somewhere.
I recall reading somewhere - I believe during the Reagan administration - where he too, wanted "more jails" - actually MANY more jails. RIght here in the United States. Then the powers that be started changing the laws, changing them because they foresaw an increase in arrests and detentions regarding what was called then "The War on Drugs"...and so they started rounding them up....left and right... whether they were guilty or not...and even if they weren't, the laws would be futher changed so that the defendants WOULD be guilty.
hummm.
The more things change,
the more they remain the same......
This present government has gotten us in a awful lot of trouble. I don't think our citizens realize just what some of our actions will bring about in the long run.
I say again as I say often.
I pray for the United States.I also pray for those who love us, or leastwise those who can tolerate us. But I pray even more for those who hate us.
Because you see, it may take awhile,
but
what goes around, comes around.

I hope you don't live in the good ol US of an A because if you do and there is another terrorist attack and it hits someone you love you may be singing a new song. Why didn't someone do something to prevent this? These are not troops but cruel people that kill innocents to further their own cause. Try studying what the Koran has to say, then ask an informed question.

Think about it. Who are the people asking for us to abandon the Geneva Convention? Neocons who avoided military service. Who are the people asking us not to do this foolish thing? Soliders of all political stripes who know what its like to serve. There is nothing worse than a chicken hawk who thinks war is a noble thing for somebody else to fight.

Let me see you wonder:
"if we treat our "enemies" like this how can we get mad when our enemies treat our boys like this and worse?"
Kahlid shack Mohamed - cruel interogation techniques were
1 Making him stay in a cold room 2 playing the red hot chili peppers.
Compare that to AlQueda treatment of Nick Berg! You probably don't remember him. He was the American who had his head sawed of on video complete with his horrified screams of agony.

you stay in Bien Hoa? You bypass to the Bien Hoa submit place of work and ask about educate mail. even as there you go searching and see the position the DHL / FedEx table / place of work is, and ask them what intense priced shipping value. even as you need to demonstrate the contents before it will be wide-spread. in case you want to seal it before going, deliver tape as a backup.

of course we did and eventually there will be an iternational war-crimes tribunal and heads will roll. as a matter of fact us congress has already passed a war-crimes act which if enforced to the letter of the law could see many us officials jailed. yes, yes, even "top officials"
