I live in Chicago Illinois. I want to try an organic weed killer because I have a lot of rabbits that eat my grass and I dont want to harm them. Im the only one on the block who has a front and back yard full of weeds. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

one of the best weed killers on the market is called>>> your own two hands... yeah I know there is not enough time in the day or week to gett all the weeds and still have time to do all of the other things that you need or want to do. However it is the most rewarding and will give you one of the most beautiful yards in the neighborhood... they make pullers that help get the taproot out and leave very little sign of digging and once you master the process you don't even leave that much of a hole. your other option(one that takes less time and gives you a beautiful lawn) is apply a winter weed and feed... Scotts makes one that is safe for all types of animals and will work over the winter so in the spring when things are starting to come out of hibernation the grass will come out the weeds won't... you'll want to add some regular fert and weed killer again mid spring.

Great question - I have the same problem, and I have a dog. I think I used one last year, but can't remember the name - this year I just used a regular fertilizer as I was assured that it would be safe. Weed killers are a problem though - so I make my own. It's 4 c. of vinegar, 1/2 c. of salt and 2 tspns. of dishwashing liquid. Works better than anything you can buy, but is safe around animals and kids - but I used it on the dandelions in my lawn and it killed a large area of grass too, so you have to be careful with it for that reason.

I was going to say weed killer. But if you miss a spot, you'll get the week back. The best bet is: Rent a machine to turn your land.
used it until the weed is under ground. Next year do it again, and, guess what? the grass is gone!!
