RAFA NADAL! You really can't go aganist Nadal on this one. He's already accomplished a lot and is a quick learner on things that will make him a better player on all surfaces! (think Wimbledon '06) In addition, he's only 20! So when Fed becomes an old dog of age 30, Nadal will be at his peak..a scary thought considering how good he already is right now.
Other contenders..Gasquet & Murray. Gotta go with players at least 4 years younger than Fed, cause there's no way he's gonna lose to anyone his age or older when he's 30, with so many shot selections and so much fluidity to his game.

There is no one known in the game that will take Roger Federer's throne. At this point it makes more sense that he will get bored and lose interest like Bjorn Borg. Roger beats those who are placed in front of him but truthfully I still think he is overrated. There is no real competition for him so of course he domiates. Other than Nadal there is no one in there prime that can hurt him. We are in a down time for the men's game. There is no Sampras or Agassi, no Boris Becker, Edberg, Wilander, Muster, Courier, McEnroe, Connors, Lendl... Federer has know mountain to climb... based on the rest of the talent on the tour right now, and barring injury, Federer will better Sampras' Slam total with in 3 years....

The next number one? I agree with the other commentators that it seems unlikely to happen soon, but Federer can't play forever! I think that Nadal is a given. He's already proven that he can play at a consistently high level. Next, I would go with the up-and-comers. I really like Gasquet's game. The potential is definitely there. Same goes for Baghdatis. His first ATP title last week ought to come with a confidence boost. I don't think Djokovic should be overlooked either. He can play absolutely superb tennis and he appears to be improving quickly. I don't see Nalbandian, Safin, Roddick, or Hewitt lasting long enough to reap the benefits of Roger's retirement.

Andy Murray is good, but Rafael Nadal is amazing. Nadal and Federrer will always be rivals, but Nadal will dominate after Roger retires until Nadal retires. Both are very good.

Federer is good for at least another 4 years, and the new king will be someone who no one has heard of yet. It won't be Nadal, Blake, or Bagdatis because they are already too old to dethrone Federer. Nadal's game is so physical and so intense that he will probably get injured.

I think the Spaniard Rafael Nadal will come on strong. It is exciting that Federer has someone to think about and prepare for with Rafe. He is so athletic, fast and strong.
Just in time. Men's tennis was becoming too easy to predict.

Might not even be one of today's players, as it might be a nuimber of years -but if I had to guess among today's players I'd say Nadal. He's already dominant on clay & is improving on other surfaces (reached the Wimbledon finals).

Federer will reign supreme until he either hurts himself or gets too old. If he stays healthy, he could last at least 10 more years. I'm betting he's the Best of All Time.
