semen is one of the best things for softening the cervix. If you don't feel like having sex just tell your husband to spank it until he's ready. you may even want to enlist the help of a couple of your husbands buddies to make sure you get a good dose

Join the club, I am 40 weeks and still nothing, I am also 2 cm dilated. None of these have worked for me so far, but they are some ideas

raspberry leaf tea
borage oil
Scallini's Labor Inducing Eggplant Parmesan
Olive oil
Squatting
Walking
Lots of sex
Massage
Pressure points
Stripping the membranes
Warm Baths
nipple stimulation
Bumpy car rides
swinging at the park
Spicy Food

As I said, I have tried all of these with no luck, but all women are different. I haven't tried castor oil because of the effect it would have on my stomach and I am not that desperate yet :) Good Luck with your new baby whenever she decides to make her arrival!

Could be tonight, could be in a couple weeks. I know prodromal labor like this is rough, but look at it this way: This starts you out ahead of the game when real labor starts.

I had prodromal labor for 3 weeks with my son. But when labor actually started, I was already 4-5 cm dilated and 100% effaced! And labor went MUCH quicker than it did with my daughter, where I started out at 0. Your body is easing you into labor nice and slow, rather than throwing you in the deep end.

Hang on, mama -- you're getting there!

I hate to say it, but it could be awhile away....but, it could be tonite. I started walking when I was having contractions to make them come more frequently. If you are already having real contractions, that should help. You don't have to walk outside. Go to a store and walk. Go to the grocery store and walk in the fridge section :) Good luck!

Have sex. A man's semen contains prostoglandins which can ripen the dilate the cervix. Have him ejaculate inside you. The other thing is to try nipple stimulation. It releases oxytocin which induces contractions. Rub them for 20 minutes then rest for 10 then repeat.

yay you are getting close.
it could be any second, or anytime within the next week, either way...EXCITING!
i know you don't wanna walk, but i say it's what started my labor, both times. you could always go to the mall to do your walking, and buy baby or YOURSELF a lil somethin, too. :-)
DEF make sure you stay hydrated so you don't go into false labor. get that water down! eat something spicey, too! good luck and congrats to you!!

I know it is hard and frustrating, but you should let nature take it's course! Enjoy the sleep while you can!
