Who was spanked growing up and how?
I saw a question regarding spanking this morning. I am totally against spanking. but it got me to thinking about growing up in the 1960's when it was an acceptable form of punishment. I had to lay over a bed and get spanked on the bare behind with a belt. I am curious to know if there were others punished in this way, especially people over 40

I was spanked only one time by my dad and I remember it to this day. I am 52. I think spanking is bad. How can hitting someone teach them anything? I don't think I will ever forget that day it has left such an impression on my. There are better ways to punish and teach a child.

By my Dad, always in the bathroom, over his knee, bare hand, bare butt.
It was nearly always my mother who said I had to be spanked.
Eventually I wised up and realized that my mother had ordered a spanking. When Dad came home I barricaded myself in the room and put all the furniture behind the door. I was never spanked again.

But I was regularly beaten with a cane in school. I had a sadist headmaster called Sutcliffe who beat me because I was the last boy to finish changing my clothes after swimming.
I had a good reason, I had to travel 30 miles home and the other boys didn't, so I wanted to be dry.
This b*st*rd Sutcliffe then beat my butt so hard that it bled.
If I were ever to meet him again I would put his eyes out. But he's dead now. That happened almost 50 yrs ago.

I'm 46 and yes I was spanked (now my mother doesn't recall this haha!) I use to have to go and pick a switch and then was swatted on the back of the legs (this thought me how to pick the right kind of switch so it wouldn't hurt as bad..took a few picks).......I also was spanked with a belt on back of legs not hard and with hand.....I was never spanked bare bottom. Now my grandmother wold slap us in the face which is not called for at all weather you believe in spanking or not

alot of these peoples familys were farked up! I can count my spankings on one hand and everytime i got one i deserved. Got the belt only twice. If i did something minor after my mother counted to three i would get a pop on the cheek or legs. not enough to hurt but enough to know not to do that again and that my parents ment bussiness when they said NO. My family is NOVEL messed up, but i think if my father had been spanked as a child, he might have grown up. He was very abbusive and threw me across the room once when i was 6, but that was just him... there is a HUGE difference between spanking and beating. Adults who were beat as children shouldn't be afraid to spank.

I'm not over 40, but I was spanked as a kid. My step-dad spanked me with a belt, and my mom whipped me with whatever she got her hands on. Dad spanked harder, but mom never stopped! I don't feel that it had any negative impact on me...I'm not suffering psychologically in any way today because of it.

I think spanking puts fear into children, and kids need to fear something. I guarantee if mom and dad threatened the naughty chair, or time out, I wouldn't have thought twice about not locking my sister in that dark closet again!

I'm only 18, but for me in my family, spanking was usually used as a threat, or we were smacked on the hand as punishment instead.
Never at any point were we hit with a belt or anything like that. If I was spanked now I'd probably enjoy it.... :-D!

I was spanked when I was growing up. We had a fanny paddle on top of the fridge, when that came down I knew I was going to get it. The name was actually on the paddle. I would go to my room and wait. Both parents would come into the room and lecture me. I would then be told to take my pants and underpants down and either get over their lap or bend over the bed. I would get hand spanked first then they would go with the paddle, my fanny was always real red and sore. and I was crying, when they finished. This happened about once a month or so.

My mother gave it to me with a belt. My grandmother and aunt use to tie my hands to my ankles and then my mother went at it on my bare bottom with a belt folded in half. When she tired my grandma took over then it was my autntie's turn. Still get it that way today. Some things never change. The rule in the house is "you disrepect one you disrespect all" so everyone had the right to beat my bottom.

I got one spanking when I was younger, and didn't need anymore than that. After that, the second my parents told me not to do something, I would do everything in my power to keep from doing it. It apparently worked out well for me.

I was spanked with the belt everyday! Sometimes with his fist, sticks or whatever he could pick up! I was beat up so bad that i was taken from my parents when i was 13 years old.
