Royal crowns or dental crowns?
Royal crowns are old enough that they have been made out of many metals and alloys. Among these are gold, silver, copper, bronze, brass, tin alloys, iron and pewter. Trace amounts of nickel, cobalt, magnesium, lead, mercury, zinc and even calcium have been found.
Older dental crowns were usually made of stainless steel or a gold-silver alloy (pure gold is too soft). Currently gold alloys, palladium, nickel alloys or chromium alloys are used.
Nickel prices vary with quantity. Currently $13.22 per pound for bulk nickel. The best place to get small quantities of nickel or nickel alloys is from a major urban scrap yard or metal shop. Very pure nickel metal is also available from scientific supply houses.

Btw, metal crowns are made of METAL! What else would they be made of?
