Do you mean Elizabeth Short who was found cut in half in January 1947? She had various other mutilations. The case is still unsolved. I've seen two books by a woman and a man about it. Each person claims her or his father did it. There is no convincing evidence for either theory. The movie is based upon a novel by James Elroy, whose mother was murdered somewhat like the Black Dahlia. The novel has little basis in reality. There are theories that several women were slain by the man who killed Liz Short.
