I was driving down the road, shifting between 2nd & 3rd when my clutch just went soft and I couldn't place the car back in gear. Clearly the possible solution would be to get a new clutch, but I'm curious to know if there could be other causes, like point A being disconnected to point B. What do you think? Thanks

Well, I'm not a mechanic or even close to being one, and
on top of that, I'm a girl....Yipeeee! Back to the subject, I
was driving down the road and my car did the same thing.
I pulled over, realized my clutch cable had broke, looked in my trunk for the new one I always made sure to have, switched them, and drove on to my destination. But then, I drive a 71 volkswagon, so it might be easier. I asked my mechanic husband, and he said it's more than
likely just the cable. Otherwise, he suggests you buy the book on your car that tells you about trouble shooting.

i know of 3 people with kia's that have had simliar issues with their clutch. chances are, you rode it to death or worse, could just be your transmission. the transmissions in kia's and dodge's are notorious for breaking down. a clutch is all mechanical, not electrical, so there's likely no chance of A to B being disconnected. remember, these cars are inexpensive because they're parts don't last long.

Clutch fluid for a newer car. Clutch cable may have broken on an older car.

first check under the car to see if there is aney fluids leaking under the car up front look where the motor and trans mate up you could have blown the hydraulic system that your car uses for the clutch.the whole system is pretty simple hydraulics or clutch one of them is shot.
