first off do you off road much? and do you hav a starter interupt like a dealership installed aftermarket security system that needs to be reset or removed.? yes when all els fails jiggle the wiring around the battery cables they may have got loose when hiting bumps dips and sleepingpolice men. aka speed bumps. does your battery have vent caps to look inside and make sure the water level is ok? do you have a an unusual smell coming from the engine while you dribve or when you open the hood.?is there any corrosion on the terminals on the bettery itself? how many miles. and what brand? check the belts for tension. you could have a fine battery and altenator but the belt that wraps around a pully may not be contacting the surface as it should. there is a lot of variables. however you said you can start it up when jumped. soaltenator maybe the issue.

From your description, the alternator is not charging properly. Otherwise the truck would keep running after your jump stated it. Have someone with a voltmeter check the voltage to the battery terminal with the engine running - should be about 13.5 to 14v DC. If a voltmeter is not available, most auto parts stores can check the charging system and all auto repair shops should be able to. Good luck.

You may be right!!Borrow someone's Digital volt/ohm meter.Touch the black wire to the neg. post on the battery and the red one to the large red wire on the alt. It should show at least 13.8 volts with the engine running. If not replace the alt. P.S. DON'T let any thing get caught in a moving belt or part. SAFTY FIRST

Yes , most likely if you jumped it and it died while running the alternator is bad and has killed the battery. Change alternator and charge battery and you'll probably be fine.

if alternator is bad it would die as soon as the battery voltage was too low to get it to spark. so i think it is the alternator, but if you can take it to auto zone they will do a free check with it on the car and tell you what the problem is.

do you mean you're having a hard time steering when you turn in either direction? that would mean a hose in the power steering could be busted or perhaps you need some more fluid.

that happened to me. My truck ran out of coolant and over heated. check that too. do it slowly so it doesn't burn you though. if it's out of coolant add water and go get some more at wal-mart. i recomend the 50/50 because you can just pour it in and don't have to worry about mixing it.

I had this happen to me. When I turn on my lights it would kill it and also one time it happen to me my gauges also went goofy. otherwise I would go with the battery. but when my battery when dead it wouldn't jump start.but I would have it tested.
