Our farmer co-op's sell snake glue traps, non poisonous traps, and to release you can pour some vegetable oil on it and the snake will eventually work itself free. If you know it's not poisonous, try and shoo it out with a broom or into a box to take outside. Otherwise, call an exterminator.
I'm not a big snake fan, but they're more afraid of you, and will avoid you. I do realize they are beneficial at killing mice and bugs and such. I had one in my house couple weeks ago(price of country living I guess), I just moved in so I have boxes everywhere. I saw it, couldn't tell if it was a rattler or non poisonous, similar markings, so I bashed it with the broom. Otherwise, I'd have let it go to kill all the friggin field mice around here.

i had that problem once, killed it myself but knew that it wasnt poisonous, id go with what cam said and call an exterminator if your not sure. as for how to kill it,my story goes like this, it just happened to be in the hallway and i freaked out ,seeing a huge black snake stretching into the bathroom of my house wasnt cool. Went to my bedroom, grabbed a sword and proceeded to chop up a snake. very messy ordeal, i dont recommend this action.

You need to hire Samuel L. Jackson to help you with that problem. If you can't afford his fees, watch his latest movie "Snakes on a Plane" to get some great ideas about how to take care of the problem. Otherwise, do what everyone else does and call a pest control company.

Sorry I can't help you I don't make a habit of killing innocent creatures just because I don't understand them. Why kill it? Most likely it's harmless and even if it is venomous that doesn't mean you have to kill it. Call animal control in your town and they'll come get it or they can tell you who to call to come get it for you. Local reptile clubs are another good place to call. They are usually happy to help you. Most people that get bitten by snakes get bitten because they are doing something stupid like trying to kill it.

bring a pot of milk to a boil. when it is boiling take it off the stove and set it on the ground. wait for 10, 15 minutes....when u come back check to see if the snake is inside the pot. if not reheat the milk and try agian.

how this works: the snake will smell the milk and will come to eat it. since the milk is hot the snake, trying to drink the milk, will scald himself and die

CAUTION: if you do not heat the milk back up after 15 min or so, the snake will drink the milk, and just get fatter and fatter

first off all...milk? second of all, if you are still having the problem call someone or get a humane trap that will not kill it. Also a shotgun=bad idea. There are things outside AND inside called pipes. Some of which contain flamable gases or liquids. I hope you get the picture. It does happen.

Yes ... absolutely!

Not all snakes are dangerous ... but why take the chance?

My younger son had a great little maxim:

(applies to all creatures except for most fish)

Count the legs!

More than four: kill it!

Less than two: kill it!

I think that I am right in saying that snakes have less than two legs ... right? So KILL the slthering b@rstards! Kill! Kill!" Kill!

Now I know that there are snake lovers out there that will be cringing. I love snakes too. I love to kill 'em. I love 'em when they're dead.

Kill a snake: save a life!

G.

DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF the snake could be poisonous so try to avoid it. I suggest calling an exterminator or a zoo nearby.
