My daughter started having migraines when she was in high school. Nothing worked for her until her doctor put her on an anti-depressant. That knocked the migraines. She's 29 now and has migraines occasionally but she's a Marriage and Family Therapist and under a lot of stress, so its not surprising. Over the counter medications ease the pain for her now.

Make sure that the foods you eat aren't triggering your migraines...things with MSG, aged cheeses, nitrates...wine, the list is endless it seems, I have migraines and watch what I am eating, and I have to watch being around someone with prefume/ aftershave , some of them will trigger migraines. Also, scented candles will do the same thing.

my wife takes topamax. she has to take it everyday twice a day, and she has not had a migraine since she began taking it. you can only get it from your doctor. it has a side effect of making her loose weight and that makes her happy.
