Well, since it says "all levels of society", you can discuss the way we want to escape reality in the levels: really high up people (bill gates, actors, etc) upper class, middle class, lower class, beggars on the streets of LA

If we expect too much from our empty dreams, we have REALISTIC family conflict, distorted social expectations as well as a distorted identity

Hope this gets you started!

You could relate to different ways to escape reality. Meditation is a good way to let your mind relax and reduce stress. A good book that lets you forget buy transporting you in to someone else’s reality. And also let your mind consider new ways of looking at things and to see things from a different point of reality. Any hobby that you can really get involved in can give your mind a chance to reveal things in a way you had never considered. It can let you understand why some one from a different time a place will have a different point of view on a situation.
You could relate to the undesirable ways to escape reality, drugs, and alcohol, thrill seeking. All though they all work some cause their own downsides and why different levels of society tend to lean to one method of relaxing over another.

The easiest and much to simple answer to this question is basically " the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence". In other words, we always are trying to attain something that seems out of reach. The all elusive "happiness", "love", "security" and so on. what ever we seem to have isn't good enough. There is that elusive, "better life". I think that this is probably what you may be looking for. Hope it helps.
