I am trying to discover the number of websites in existance today, the number of new ones coming on line each day, and how many are older than 2 years.

In the time it took you to receive your first answer there were probably another few thousand web and home sites go live on the net.

with the ability for anyone to make a website these days the chance of getting a correct count is impossible the most you'll ever get is a rough estimate and even that will be way off

i found a website the other day, which hadnt been updated for nearly 10 years, there are perhaps billions of websites on the net, and no one will ever know how many.

If you started counting, you would probbly never finish - but websites are hosted all over the world, my main site is hosted in america (or it was last time i checked) and i have one hosted in Holland, so you would probbly end up counting none U.S ones aswell

There are so many websites being created and deleted every day that there is probably no way to tell.
