The majority of people's temp will be at or around 98.6. However, because we are all different, some of us have a normal temp that is a bit lower -- my normal temp ranges anywhere from 97.6 to 98.6.
However, I was told by a nurse that if you are not feeling well, and your temp is off by more than one degree, you should have it checked out if it is lower. If it is over 101 then you are running a fever that might be more serious and should have it checked if you are unable to get it down. Hope this helps.

Every person is different. The AVERAGE is 98.6 but that does not mean you have to have a temp of 98.6 to be normal. For example, when a woman is menstruating her temp goes up. The bottom line is everybody is different.

because at one time the only place you would get your temp taken was in the hospital, and rectal temp was considered normal at 98.6 if you take temp in mouth it may read lower and if u us under the arm its may be even lower yet. unless you own a very good digital thermometer , take temp 3 times and use average. this would be normal for you

USC Chick. As all the others have said, 98.6 is just a mean average. You are well within the norm, however, when I look at your pic my temperature starts skyrocketing.

98.6 is anaverage temp. Some people are colder and some are hotter. Or perhaps you need a new thermometer.

a girls temp will vary during the month...
a guys temp stays the same all month long,
except it varies in direct proportion to the square root of the distance from a pretty girl.

98.6 is the average norm
not everyone is exactly that temp
are you drinking something beforehand.. that can lower /raise the temp

it can be as low as 96 and as high as 99 and still be in the normal range
