Line of sight is generally around 40 miles, but as jonti1725 says, it depends on your altitude as well.

It really depends where you are... how high you are and whether there is anything significantly high that creates a false horizon.

apparently, if your at sea level, and there are no obstructions, ie, looking out over sea/dessert, you can see approximately 22 miles
