I just want to upgrade my processor on my Dell Dimension 4300 Desktop. I need to know what type to get. please help anybody. my computer is having trouble displaying THIS MESSAGE. it's bad. please and thank you for all help.

click start run then type in dxdiag the info should be on the first page shown

I Agree with Demonicunicorn it is either a video card problem or your monitor is going bad NOT your cpu! right click on a blank spot on your desktop select properties click on settings make sure it is set for atleast 16bit colours and 800x600 or higher then click on advanced then monitor chenge the refreash rate to default if that isnt shown then optimal if that isnt shown then try 75 hertz

It sounds like your problem is not the processor but is instead your video card that is failing and the video card is far easier to replace. Try replacing the video card if that doesn't work ask the computer shop to run a battery of dianostic's to see if they can single out your failing hardware device and either fix or replace as you see fit. Good luck on the stress test.

just download free program "CPU Z" and run it, it will tell you what is your CPU, motherboard, RAM and many others in seconds...

Remember brand computers are always problem about their hardware, check the manifacturer's website if Cpu upgrade is available!
