If there was a huge consensus in Iraq to keep the American troops in there, and they were helping the Iraqi's, would you think it acceptable to keep the troops in there?

But there is no consensus in Iraq for us to be there. So what's your point in asking this question? We had no business going in in the first place and the quicker we leave the better. Do you honestly believe that 6 months after we leave that this country won't return to what it was?

Yes, but first they should at least learn a little Arabic. And they should be HELPING people, making the water safe to drink, getting electricity going again, helping set up schools and hospitals, NOT interrogating and shooting. I think a great place to start would be to rebuild the Baghdad Archaeological Museum, which Don Rumsfeld and co did nothing to protect when they started bombing...
