I am not even talking about the environmental impact.....just the butt nastiness of it. People won't walk 12 feet to put their garbage in a trash can??? Just toss your cigarette butts anywhere. SOMEONE else can clean it up if they want.

People just have to be taught the right thing to do when they are young. Taught at home by parents, taught in the schools by teachers and taught on the streets by the law enforcement. Most important of all that they are taught by example.

They don't all know the difference.
Plus, some people have received misinformation about the coolness of picking up trash that misses the can when you throw it.
Many people think that it's much more hip and with it to leave crap on the ground when they aim for the cap like a basketball star and miss like a basket case.
In fact, it would be cooler to pick up the trash and throw it away,but-
But, seriously now, you're really overestimating the average human if you raise your expectations so high as to think that they'd throw away trash into a trash can.
The mere idea would bespeak wisdom nough to blow the average persons mind.

What, what your worried about a damn cigarette butt? Your a fn as*hole! Go to California and just look at all the trash people throw out their car window's and the crap just sit's there in the sand. I live in Slohio -- it's a truck driver's term, but anyway we have grass here and the trash get's ate up by the grass and you don't see it any more but it's still there. Yes I have to agree with you about trashie people but if there is a ashcan around, I for one put my butt there, and if there's not I put my but into the back of the pack but for you to come on here and ***** about a cigarette butt, and the trash truck going down the road with your trash in it and it's flying around because you did'nt secure it in the bag well. Why don't you find something worth really bitching about because your not going to change these lazy as*hole's.

I don't even think it's laziness, just uncaring. I smoke and I put my filters in my pocket till I get near a trash can. People are just uncaring. I sucks.

I know I hate it!!! I walked to the grocery store yesterday and there was newspaper all over this hillside by the road. I picked up I could carry.

They're lazy and disgusting in general. Most people who do that have nasty living quarters as well. Trust me, you don't want to see their houses or cars.
