I'm setting up a wireless network for a laptop and two tivo's with a Belkin router, and cable provided high speed internet service. I have everything set up correctly, ran the installation discs on both the internet service and the router - but the internet signal is not being picked up by the router. If I plug my computer to the modem, there is a signal. If I plug it to the router (and either plug from the router to my computer or try wireless) there is no signal. I tried to connect with my Tivo, and it said that the internet connection can not be found. I've already spent hours on the phone with IT, and no solution has been found - if anyone has a similar situation they resolved, or advice, I'd appreciate it!

Your modem should be plugged into the Ethernet port of the router and an Ethernet cable run from your router to your PC. If you do this and your Internet connection cannot be made then it's most likely because you need to bridge your modem in your ISP settings. I would recommend contacting your service provider for assistance in doing this unless you're extremely familiar with bridging protocols.

Could be a number of things. You can connect when going directly from the pc to the cable modem, but cannot when connecting through the router. I would first see if the 2 devices use the same LAN IP. Very common that they would. If so, Change the LAN IP on your cable modem to something else, that way the cable modem and router can communicate. As far as the wireless, you may have to access the belkin gui to verify the wireless functionality is on. Not all routers have it active by default. Does the belkin have a wireless LED? Is it lit? If it does and its dark, it means its not on. If it is lit, that means its broadcasting the signal and your laptop is not recieving it. Verify the wireless card is enabled in network connections. If not, right click and enable it. If it is already enabled, disable then re-enable it to see if it aquires a network address from the belkin. Do an ipconfig to verify you are getting a valid IP. Now powercycle all the equipment. Power up the cable modem first, then the belkin, next the PC's, and the tivo's last. This will allow each device to resolve the IP's from the 2 network devices.

I know exactly what you are talking about. First kill the power to your modem and to your router. Then shut down your computer. Wait for about five minutes. This will allow your cable company to reset the modem. Turn things on in this order only! Turn on the modem and wait for all the appropriate lights to come on. Then turn on your router. Again, wait for it to finish it's self check. Then turn on the computer. This should work. You troubleshooted exactly as I would have. You made sure that you had signal to the modem. Oh, yeah restart you tivos last. Good Luck

probably maybe another wireless device is interfering with the connection. I had a problem like this and i found out when i talked on my wireless home phone it would lose my connection. Try turning off everything that is wireless which is including house phone .If you are using a wireless keyboard or mouse try changing it with a regular mouse and keyboard.
