I know that was the track where his son was killed but I have never seen him do something like that before.

I was wondering the same thing. It said at NASCAR.com that his sponsers were Petty Enterprises and Victory Junction Gang, but I don't know why his car was blank. It probably was a tribute to Adam.

Kyle's son Adam died at this track and the car #45 was to be his car,so in silent tribute to Adam Petty .

I think it was a silent tribute to Adam. But, the #45 didn't have full sponsorship entering this season and it may have been one of those races that didn't have a primary sponsor associated with it.
