Everybody says unflavored gelatin, but do you really want to put that stuff in your body. I think if everyone knew that Jello is made from processed collagen, which is a structural protein in animals' connective tissue, skin, and bones...they wouldn't ever eat it again.
Here are foods that will help your nails grow faster and strongerFoods that are rich in iron, calcium, vitamin B and potassium are as good for your nails as they are for the rest of your body. They include soy products, celery, yogurt, eggs and seafood too.
Other Foods To Consider
almonds garlic spinach tuna cinnamon
Unfortunately..eating gelatin won't help your nails. http://beauty.about.com/cs/nails/qt/nailgrowth_food.htm
You Can Encourage Nail Growth
All you have to do is massage your favorite cream into your cuticle area, the nail and the fingertips. This will soften the skin and as an added bonus, encourage your nails to grow. Do this as often as you like.

You can buy unflavored gelatin, like in the jello aisle. Mix that with anything...drinks, food, whatever. You can't taste it at all, but it makes your nails stronger and healthier.

Vitamin E and oil....If you hands are dry and your nails are cracking and peeling..you need to rub oil on them. Even if it is vegetable oil...It works great at getting them strong again.
