You might be thinking of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" or similar books in the Oz series by L. Frank Baum. Baum never wrote a book called "Wicked"
You can find "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" for free online at:
http://www.literature.org/authors/baum-l-frank/the-wonderful-wizard-of-oz/
"Wicked" is a book inspired by Baum's Oz series but was written by Gregory Maguire.

Wicked was not actually written by L. Frank Baum...it is a companion, not a sequel, to all of the Wizard of Oz books. I would recommend typing 'Wicked' into your search engine, and then clicking on something about a novel...be careful what you click on, as Wicked is now also a Broadway play!

Bookstore probably. Or a library. Also online sources like Amazon or ebay, com can help.
Stay out of clothing outlet stores and restaurants. Most likely they'll only be stocking clothes and food and the like.
Note: The best way to get it for free is to steal it from one of these places. Books are usually protected by a magnet system, so if you bring big magnets you can take a shot at breaking to alarm mechanisms and then just walk out with whatever you find.
Big magnets are located in speakers, if that's your plane.
Keep it in mind, though, that I've never done it, so I don't know if it'll work.
But I'm sure you know how to steal well enough.

No, hon -- the text wouldn't be online for free as it is protected by copyright law. Go to your library and borrow it -- for FREE. It's a great book. Well worth the read.

No isn't it great so it will encourage people like you to read. If Authors book's are on the net then who buy them, and how would they get royalties for their book's. So hope it might encourage you to vist a library and borrow a book to read

Maybe... does your school have Netlibrary, or some other free online library resource? Otherwise, you may have to break down and go to the local library.
