It is legal to spank moderately as a punishment but "hit" is different, hitting a child such as slapping or punching is always abuse. I think that it should be up to the biological parent to physically punish the child.

No father or stepfather (or mother) should ever hit a child. A smaller child who cannot reason very well may be swatted on his cushiony behind firm enough, but never to bruise or hurt the child. "Spare the Rod, Spoil The Child" is written in the bible.
Cops will not arrest him for spanking a child, but will for hitting him inappropriately.
But even then spanking should not be the first way to discipline a child or used as a threat.

it is not a ? if is it legal or can a stepfather hit is stepchild
it is why & where is your mom
everyone discipline children different I don't like to hit
and I certainly will not like it for my husband to hit my children
You need to talk to your mom about this

in the uk it is illegal to hit and leave any mark,,which really means no hitting at all,as far as i know,,there was a big hoo har about it here.
