assist the same teacher. Well one day we had to grade papers for her and it took all day. 30 minutes before the bell rang to end the class, the class went to the library. We still had to grade papers, and the teacher was like "we'll be right back" and gave me a longing look. The next day, the other teacher's assistant wasn't there, and they had to go to the library again, and since i didn't have anything to do, i went with them. I was still in the back of the class and the teacher turned out the light, and waited at the door for everyone to get out. Then as i walked past her, she asked me " are you going to the library with us, with a smile on her face" already knowing that i was going. Why would she act like that?

Maybe you are reading more into it than there is. I wouldn't sweat it unless she continues to make you feel uncomfortable. Then I would see about getting out of that class.

I work in education. You need to speak with your principal about the problem and document. You could explain to the principal that you are having some problems, but you do not want to make a big deal out of it unless the problem continues. You just want him/her to be AWARE of the situation. Then if it continues you ask the principal to sit down with you and the teacher. At times, teachers that have a certification feel as if they are better than you. I am a teacher's assistant, too, but I also have a 4 year degree, but I wanted to see if I like the education field. Paraprofessionals and teacher's assistants along with custodial workers and even secretaries are snubbed at. That is the way people think and it sad, but true. If you have to, next year request to be moved to another classroom if things are not better by the end of the school year.
