I think maybe this is based on the self-riteuous republican right winged folks. As you know, many Holy Wars are based on religion,or some religious issue. This has been true down through history.
Also, the real self-riteous have a lot of hate in them. Go to any Pentecostal or real strong Bible Bangin' foot stompin' church and right there mixed in with the saints will be the most pious and hateful people you'll ever meet. They love to judge and punish.
That's why the blood and guts pictures are ok.
Now the sex pictures? Oh my God! We've all got our little secrets there and don't want to talk about it, look at it, or let anyone know we might be even the tiniest bit kinky in any way. Because of that, many people tend to overcompensate on it and just ban it all. It's too volatile. Better to just stay in denial they we've ever even dont the nasty. Even call it "the nasty" speaks for itself. As the old line say, "Me thinks he doth protest too much".
As for me? I have sex. I am even a bit kinky sometimes. Anybody want a picture??????????

It seems to hearken back to the Old Testament God, the wrathful, vengeful deity. That whole eye for an eye philosophy. Taste the fruit of knowledge and you are cast out of Paradise, all of a sudden realizing that you're naked.

Taking pictures of horrible things like war can open up people's eyes to how crappy the world can be sometimes.Taking pictures of sex is just tasteless.

good question, dhs, i've never quite understood it myself. to go out on a limb here, on a religious note, the bible teaches us that "thou shalt not kill" and that murder is wrong. god created us to be sexual beings, for procreation and for pleasure and intimacy. so what the....... i don't get it. society has it a little backward, ya think??
