According to the fishing guidelines of Massachusetts-pregnant women should not eat fresh water fish (fish caught in a lake or stream) because of high toxin levels (specifically mercury levels). Most fish caught in the open sea are still safe, AS WELL as well as farm fed fish. However fish is high in Omega 3 which may promote infant brain and eye growth.

Fish has an elevated mercury level. Some fish is okay but not alot.

Mercury in certain fish is the problem. l know that Albacore and also "white" tuna contain particularly high levels of mercury and shouldn't be eaten during pregnancy.
