Reasons for seeing him as a liberal include:

Anti-War feelings.
Anti-Slavery feelings.
Feminist views.
Arguments against blind nationalism.
Views of the family.
Views on the penal code.
Sensitivity to the poor.
Cruelty to animals.

LIBERALS ARE THE BACKBONE AND SPINE OF AMERICA

This war against terrorists will be won by force.
Slavery has been illegal for a long time.
Feminism will destroy itself. Equality is fine. This idea that men want strong and dominant women is garbage. Women are naturally here to have kids and care for them. Trends show that women are staying home and having families more and more.
Not sure what you mean on nationalism
Family is marriage between 1 man and 1 woman. Gay marriage is wrong, civil unions are wrong. I know of no Republicans in Congress that are advocating gay marriage, but there are plenty of Democrats.
Penal code-premeditated murder, killing of a cop or witness, felony murder, and a few others mean death penalty.

The best way to be sensitive to the poor is teach them the skills they need to get out of poverty. Blind welfare does nothing. Empowerment is the key. Look at kids that are spoiled. When they earn their own money, they respect it and will work for it. When it is not, the results are trash like Paris Hilton.

Cruelty to animals. We are the top of the food chain. What about all the wild animals that violently kill prey. Should we stop them?

Jesus would never be a liberal because

1. Liberals support gay marriage
2. Liberals support seizure of property in the form of taxes.
3. Liberals do not believe in using force to protect yourself. This is what the entire War on Terror is all about.

I am a proud conservative. I believe in small government, low taxes, strong national defense. If you look at the Constitution, you will see that our founders are very closely aligned to conseratives. Note not all Republicans are conservatives.

Do you remember the part in the Bible where Jesus became righteously angry at the corruption in the Temple? He went on a rampage!
When one is opposed to corruption, sometimes just talking is not a solution. We're supposed to stand up for the weak.

Anyway:
Conservatives are anti-slavery.
Conservatives believe people should be treated EQUALLY.
Conservatives do believe in questioning our government, and their motives, but not in ways that are disrespectful.
Conservatives believe that a family should consist of one man, one woman, and their children. Hmm, that's what Jesus believed!
Jesus never said whether He approved of the death penalty or not...but He didn't stop the two thieves from being crucified beside Him, now did He?
Conservatives do believe in sensitivity for the poor, but they also believe that the poor should learn to help themselves, and not always expect a government check.
I know many conservatives who are against cruelty to animals. My sister, for example, is involved in wildlife animal rescue, and runs a "foster home" for displaced animals. Most conservatives I know protest the Humane Society for the amount of animals they put to sleep.
Oh yes, and it's the LIBERALS who seem to want all pit bulls euthanized, NOT THE CONSERVATIVES. Now, who's cruel to animals again?

Jesus wasn't a liberal. He was a moderate.

I, personally, am a libertarian, believing that the Golden Rule is the best way to live. I treat others the way I prefer to be treated. Always, every time. This makes me conservative on some issues, liberal on others, silent on even more.
Jesus believed the Old Testament. Completely. And said so Himself. Which tends to make Him conservative.

It's hard to transfer what Jesus taught in that day to present times, politically speaking.

Example; Because he saved the woman caught in the act of adultery, does that mean he would be against ALL death penalty cases?

And, if you noticed, while he saved her, he didn't back down on saying she was wrong. ("Go & sin no more.") I can imagine liberals screaming, "Who are you telling her what to do with her own body!"

He obviously wanted the poor to be taken care of, but does that mean he would have wanted the government to be in charge of it? And 50% of the rich man's income being confiscated to pay for it? That sounds more like Robin Hood than Jesus Christ!

He said you have to pay your taxes, but would he have voted for a politician who advocated fixing things by higher taxes?

He taught obedience to the government, but does that mean he wanted a big government?

I can't imagine Jesus being anything but disgusted by mid to late- term abortions, but the Bible is not specific on the subject. The issue of "when life begins" would have to be answered, first.

But as far as issues like trade unions and strong regulation of business, strong environmental regulations, animal rights & gun control, it's hard to say, exactly.

Wow, so Jesus would be proud of you for allowing doctors to cut out and kill growing babies in women?

Jesus first and formost stood for God (which liberals are quickly trying to get rid of through secularization) and Gods law which is built on CONSERVATIVE VALUES.

I am a conservative because Im a Christian and it was the natural school of thought to follow. I dont always agree with conservatives, especially when it comes to unions, but they have the values both Jesus and I share.

I don't know. This morning I tried to conserve gas by not flooring the car at red lights, but earlier I put way too much butter, a liberal amount, on my toast.

Jesus is proud of those that love him and desire to do His will. Liberal and Conservative are man made terms.

Jesus would love abortion, homosexuality, divisions in the family, excessive taxation requiring two incomes to support a family. Would Jesus support the destruction of Christians by Muslims.

Instead of relinquishing your outdated views Liberals are just trying to change the slogans and terms, crawl back to 1972 where your idiot views are still relevant.;
