If this user needed a copy-paste job of a linked page, she would have asked for one. To download music onto your iPod:

1. Install the included software. This is extremely important; not doing so before connecting your iPod to your computer results in a software failure and will require a reinstallation of your iPod's operating system.

2. Install the latest version of iTunes. Available from http://www.apple.com/itunes .

3. Connect your iPod to your computer with the included USB 2.0 cable. One end of the cable is wide and flat; this is the 30-pin dock connector. The other end is slightly thicker and shorter, with an Apple logo on one side. This is the USB connector.

4. iTunes will do the rest. Simply follow the instructions.

To keep your iPod filled with all the newest additions to your iTunes library — from music to podcasts to photos to movies — just plug it in. iPod and iTunes take care of the rest.

Sync your music
Sync in a snap with Auto-Sync. By default, iTunes automatically copies your entire music library to iPod and deletes songs on iPod that are not listed in iTunes. Or you can use Playlist Sync and select the playlists you want to sync with your iPod. If you have more songs in your iTunes library than you can fit on your iPod, let iTunes create a playlist to fill your iPod, or just update your iPod by dragging over individual songs.

Sync album art, photos, contacts, and calendars
Sync the album cover art to accompany your portable music library, or sync as many as 25,000 photos. In most cases, iPod will preserve your photo albums and the music from your slideshows. Always compatible with Mac OS X Address Book and iCal, iTunes also supports contacts syncing via Outlook Express or calendar and contacts syncing via Outlook for the PC.

Sync Your TV shows and movies
The fifth-generation iPod supports video syncing from iTunes, so you can take all your music videos, TV shows, and movies on the road. Just plug in iPod and iTunes Auto-Syncs videos and video playlists just as it does songs and music playlists. If you enjoy the occasional video podcast, iTunes will sync that to your iPod, too.

Sync your podcasts
iTunes offers podcast syncing, so you don’t need any additional software to put your favorite radio shows on your iPod. A set of preferences allows you to automatically sync all your podcasts or just the podcasts you choose. iTunes makes syncing your podcasts as easy as managing them.
