You have to be strong with yourself and just get started first.
Buying a membership isn't getting started. It's the easy part.

Get a trainer / friend to push you on, whether it is the gym, going for a run or even walking up a few flights of stairs when you get to work as opposed to the lift.

Make the reaching of your goal a fun thing by setting baby goals along the way. E.g. instead of staying in the gym for 3 hours on the first session, just go for a 15-min treadmill jog followed by 15 mins of lower body workouts on the machines. When you have achieved this easy task, reward yourself by having a nice warm bubbly bath.

I also find that logging one's progress helps. And you will feel guilty if you do not log it for a week!

Look at your question from a different angle, why did I buy a gym membership was it under duress from a doctor etc... When making goals it would be to your advantage to make realistic goals to start with then move the goals further apart, if you make unrealistic unachievable goals to begin with you may not even try to do them then you may start to feel like a failure. You aren't a failure you just chose the wrong goal for you at that time, good luck in choosing an achievable goal.

Obviously the goal doesn't give a burning desire to achieve it! Ok, so you've bought membership into a gym ... why? What is it you're out to do / get? Do you want a good body? Do you want to lose weight? What's your target? What's your target date? Have you broken it down into day-by-day bite-sized chunks? Do you have a mentor to look up to? Do you have a goal / dream board?

If you're still having problems after a week or two, feel free to get back in touch, I'll recommend some reading for you.

eh, do no longer think of - have an attitude of a warrior who expects loss of life to return at any 2nd. decrease down all theory with the pointy sword of disserning awareness - they are all in truth illusionary and are combating you from reaching what you go with. each and every time you get a lazy theory - thoroughly push aside it - and pass working besides the indisputable fact which you're able to desire to think of which you do no longer want to. Later come decrease back and evaluate on what led to you to think of that way. pass deep into the underlying motives and are available up with an answer quickly. think of which you're actually not some runner - yet which you're a Mohigan on a venture from his chief, the large Deer and you're able to run run run,.,,,,

1. Think back to when you first had your ideas; what motivated you then? - What motivates you to go to the gym NOW? What did you want FROM THAT? What would it be like after you'd been to the gym? Use your imagination to RE-motivate yourself!

2. When thinking of your 'good ideas', think about what it would be like: to see it, to hear it, to FEEL it, to act as if you already achieved it... what would THAT be like?

3. Revisit those imaginations - feeling often to motivate yourself.

4. Ask yourself what drives you; what would be even better than that!

5. Really GO for it!

More energy is require for the launch than for the ride.

Start up cost to so many projects usually amounts to more than maintenance.

Ever heard of the child / teen who could do an excellent job at something, but it take forever to get that child / teen started?

Getting up out of bed is usually the hardest part about starting the day.

Do you get my drift?

GET STARTED.

Let me add this. Get your finances in order. Financial disorder can really dampen ones spirit about things. Get it in gear, and stay in control.

for your example, i would say you have too much money, and not enough sense - sorry...

for other stuff... does it involve money.. see above..

if you have other goals, like loosing weight, but u cant stop eating cakes... um.. u have too much money..

maybe give 20% of your money to charity..

if you couldnt buy as many cakes.. u wouldnt be as fat.. wouldnt need a gym membership, and an african village would get a well....
